A Road Trip to Awaji Island “Awaji-Shima” (visit japan with insurance)

Trivia:  Awaji-Shima is an island in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, in the eastern part between the islands of Honshu and Shikoku. The island is separated from Honshu by the Akashi bridge and from Shikoku by the Naruto bridge.

It was a fine day, we travelled from Osaka to Awaji-Shima by car. On our way, we passed by Kobe. By far, I was able to take a picture of the Kobe tower at least.

You can go to Awaji- Shima by car or bus. We dropped by a place which is common for commuters to stop for nature’s calling or whenever you feel hungry. A place to drop by for coffee, snacks or even to have some drinks before going ahead to the island.

That place has a lot of choices of food. Then we reached the place to see the famous spot for whirlpools. Yes, there is! I really liked this experience; you need to ride on a ship to go near the Naruto Bridge and see some whirlpools. Ticket is needed to board on a ship. And there is the best time to see bigger whirlpools. In our case we got to see the small ones, but it was still satisfying.

Then we tried the seasonal food which is famous during that time “Shirasu bowl” (whitebait bowl). The taste complemented the rice as topping. Must try! slurrrppp!

Hmmm… how does it look like? Soo yummy! and affordable. So, if you could come to Awaji- Shima in June, try this delightful food. Then we explore Awaji- Shima and observed that most residents grow onions. I could see some fields full of onion along the way. I heard Awaji- Shima’s onion is sweeter and big. Can be eaten raw. I never let the chance to blow away without taking close to the onion field.

It was my first time to harvest. I had a great time doing it. Awaji- Shima is a very quiet and peaceful Island. People are very friendly and always wear a smile. It was so great then travelling to a new place away from the city.
